About This Role
The Finance Director serves as a general business manager for The Freedom Church and is responsible for all financial, accounting, real estate, contracted benefits, and risk management activities. The Finance Director is responsible for advising and supporting the Lead Pastor from a fiscal leadership perspective and has the opportunity to influence strategy and be involved in non-traditional activities, such as property development and acquisition. In addition, the Finance Director oversees the finance and financial resources ministries.
Ministry Leader Culture-Driven Responsibilities
- Oversee, manage and motivate a strong and effective ministry team.
- Responsible for recruiting new team members for the growth of the ministry.
- Provides monthly quality check on performance goals, struggles, and areas of improvement.
- Facilitate ministry team meetings on a consistent basis
- Coach team members into vision-building, effective ministry habits and biblical principles of ministry for spiritual growth.
- Foster an environment for innovation and creativity to create strategies for vision alignment and progression of the ministry.
Ministry Specific Responsibilities
- Ensure the financial budgets are in line with the vision, values and annual goals of The Freedom Church.
- Ensure ministries have the financial resources they need to effectively run their ministry.
- Serve as the primary driver for coordinating and getting approval on all church budgets.
- Manage the funds of the church to assure fiscal responsibility, balancing socially responsible investments with maximum return, and providing timely information and financial recommendations.
- Manage all cash flow/liquidity needs and forecasting.
- Direct all financial, project-based, and departmental accounting.
- Ensure timeliness, accuracy, and usefulness of financial and management reporting.
- Account for and manage the day-to day finances of the church, coordinating the maintenance of all accounts, ledgers, balance sheets, income and disbursements.
- Oversee the preparation and approval of all financial reporting materials.
- Coordinate audits and proper filing to ensure legal and regulatory compliance regarding all financial functions.
- Prepare and communicate monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements.
- Participate in directors’ meeting, creative meetings and leadership retreats to provide evaluations and feedback to the team of directors.
